Buffum selected as lead facilitator for Emergency Services Program Manager Orientation

Achievement

Rocky Buffum, emergency services director for the American Red Cross in North Central Indiana, has been selected as the lead facilitator for the Emergency Services Program Manager Orientation to be conducted by the American Red Cross National Headquarters on Nov. 16-18 in Toledo, OH. This program will bring new Emergency Services Directors from across the country together for three days of learning.

The Chapter Emergency Services program manager orientation is an instructor-led, advanced level course focused on collaborative learning experience to improve management competencies required to lead an emergency services program. Participants review essential activities for day to day chapter program and service delivery planning and operations. The purpose of this orientation is to improve individual effectiveness in managing a chapter's emergency services program and to identify resources for success.

Rocky currently supports 235 volunteers in delivering the Red Cross mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies in Cass, Grant, Howard, Miami, Tipton and Wabash counties in North Central Indiana. He joined the American Red Cross staff in 2007 and since that time has worked as an instructor for Health and Safety Services, a Chapter Executive Director and currently as Emergency Services Director for a multi-chapter jurisdiction. He also is one of a handful of Red Cross staff nationwide credentialed through the prestigious Disaster Services Program Manager Certification System, an advanced disaster instructor and recently completed a one-year appointment to the Indiana State Planning Group. He holds degrees in Paramedic Science, Psychology, Public Administration and Disaster Management, with additional credentials in Emergency Management and Instructional Design and Delivery.
