Logansport winery honored by Indiana Main Street

ARCADIA, IN- On October 20, Indiana Main Street honored the People’s Winery of Logansport with the 2011 Indiana Main Street Best Historic Rehabilitation Award during the statewide Indiana Main Street Conference, held at Alice’s Restaurant in Arcadia, Indiana. The Indiana Main Street Program is managed by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).

“Congratulations to Brad and Stacie of People’s Winery on this well-deserved award,” said Lt. Governor Skillman, who oversees OCRA.  Their downtown revitalization efforts are helping promote economic activity in their community.”

The People’s Winery, originally the People’s Bank, was constructed in the 1870’s.  After standing vacant since the 1970’s and falling into disrepair, the Cass County Historic Preservation Foundation received a Wabash Heritage Corridor grant with matching funds from Indiana Landmarks.  Years later, Brad and Stacie Angle purchased the building in 2010 and began renovations to transform the building into the People’s Winery.  Now, artwork from various local artists adorns the walls and the building is used for a variety of events, including book signings, press conferences, and private parties. 

Indiana Main Street was established to provide economic revitalization and professional assistance to participating communities. Indiana Main Street encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns.
