Mr. Joseph Huffman is the 2012 Logansport High School Hall of Distinction inductee. LHS Principal Matt Jones announced today that Huffman will be recognized during the school's 141st Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, June 3 at 2 p.m. in the Berry Bowl.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department announces the hiring of two new deputies to replace the two recently retired deputies, Sgt. Mike Day, who retired in July and Sgt. Steve Thompson, who retired in March.

Two Cass County natives have been named as recipients of the Carnegie Medal. The medal is given by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission to those who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree while saving or attempting to save the lives of others. Four of the awardees died in their rescue attempts.

Representatives from LPL Financial Services and Mid-America Radio Group of Logansport presented Rocky Buffum, American Red Cross Emergency Services Director, with the funds raised for tornado victims in Southern Indiana through a weeklong fundraiser conducted through local radio stations Hoosier Country 103.7, Mix 102 and 1230 WSAL.

The Logansport High School Super Bowl Teams competed at the Winamac Invititaional on March 6, 2012, against 7 other teams. The Math Team of Conner Kinnaman, Christian Hukai, and Pam Ketavanga placed first.

Five members of the LHS Speech Team advanced to the semi-final round at the Hoosier Heartland District Tournament Saturday, March 10 at Southport. Grant LaDow, Luke Jackson, Alli Biggs, Lari Rutchsmann, and Jake Hawes placed in the top 12 of their respective events. These students are the first competitors in four years to advance to the semi-final round.

Jacob Fisher, Logansport,  graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois, on Wednesday, March 7th, earning his Associates of Science Degree in Mortuary Science.

The Ball State University Speech Team took first place in the 29th annual Indiana State Individual Events Association state tournament on Saturday, February 18, 2012, held at Butler University. This is Ball State's 7th state title in the last 8 years (fourth in a row); defeating competitors from IUPUI, UIndy, Notre Dame, Butler, Marian, and Purdue.
