The Cass County Treasurer’s office would like to remind taxpayers that the first installment of property tax is due Thursday, May 10, 2012. The office will be operating with reduced staff for this collection.

R. Scott Waddell, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), announced that BMV license branches will extend hours of operation on Monday, May 7 and on Tuesday, May 8 to issue state ID cards and driver’s licenses that may be used for identification at a polling place.

The following lane restrictions and road closures are current for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) LaPorte District. Comprised of 13 counties in Northwest Indiana, the LaPorte District includes Lake, Porter, LaPorte, St.

Indiana Conservation Officers are encouraging hunters to be safe this spring when taking to the woods.  Turkey hunting is a sport that has been enjoyed by Hoosiers for more than three decades.  During this time, Indiana has never had a fatal turkey hunting accident; however, a few turkey hunters are injured in shooting accidents every year.
 

Children and adults with developmental disabilities on waiting lists for Indiana’s Medicaid Waiver program must return a Waiting List Status Form to the state by April 10, 2012 indicating that they want to remain on the waiting list. The Arc of Indiana urges individuals and families to be aware of the importance of returning the form as soon as possible.

Statewide tornado drills will be conducted twice today in Indiana. Cass County EMA director Alvin Beckman says Cass County will be participating. The statewide drill is set to be conducted between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and again between 7:30 and 8 p.m.

The Cass County Solid Waste District’s recycling container at the Tall Sycamore Campground is being closed immediately due to an order from ownership and management.

Management reported that they have personally seen users of the recycling site put trash in totes that belong to residents who live there, and that results in additional costs to the Tall Sycamore.

All Logansport Civil City offices will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2011,

Logansport Municipal Utility offices will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 for the Christmas Holiday.

The Cass County Government Building will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26.

The Cass County Highway Department has learned that CR 50E, known as Kokomo Pike, will be closed at the Hoosier Heartland bridge construction site during daylight hours today and tomorrow (12/19 and 12/20). The closure is for gas line relocation, and affects the part of 50E between US 24/35 and CR 300S.
