Cass County has been placed under a yellow travel advisory status due to road conditions county wide. The recent thaw has caused many roads to experience frost heave and areas of failed pavement. In some of these cases, drivers might suddenly encounter broken or soft pavement with large chunks of asphalt in the roadway. Drivers are urged to be alert for these areas on all county roads and reduce speed accordingly when encountering them.
Crews with the Cass County Highway Department have been working as quickly as possible to temporarily mitigate the failed pavement areas. However the areas are numerous, and it will take some time to address all areas. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the traveling public in dealing with this situation.
