Shortly after 2 p.m. on March 3, the Logansport Police Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Berkley and Melbourne Ave. During the traffic stop officers requested assistance from a Logansport Police K9 Unit. During the traffic stop investigation, K9 Mattis indicated for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and located narcotics paraphernalia commonly associated with ingesting Heroin, as well as clear bags that contained alleged Heroin.
During the investigation, hypodermic needles were located, individual packages of alleged Heroin and other narcotics paraphernalia. All total, over 26 grams of alleged Heroin were seized with a street value
of nearly $6,500. An undisclosed amount of US currency was also seized.
The driver, Chantz Marlatt, 20, of Francesville, was arrested for possession of Heroin (Level 4), dealing heroin (Level 3), possession of paraphernalia (A misdemeanor), possession of a syringe (Level 6),and maintaining a common nuisance level 6).
Edward Hurst, 19, of Logansport was arrested for possession of heroin (level 6), possession of paraphernalia (A misdemeanor), possession of a syringe (level 6), visiting a common nuisance (A misdemeanor).
