On July 16 at approximately 1:55 p.m., Twelve Mile Fire Department, First Responders and Cass County Sheriff Units were dispatched to a farm on County Road 900 N, northeast of Twelve Mile.
Upon arrival, Mark Babb of Twelve Mile advised emergency personnel that Henry Schwartz, 17, of Akron had been working with a hay wrapping machine when his hand and arm became caught in the farm equipment. Babb said he immediately called the 911 center.
Twelve Mile First Responders from the Twelve Mile Fire Department, along with Prompt Ambulance Service, were able to free Schwartz from the farm machinery after cutting some of it away.
Schwartz was flown by helicopter from the scene to Fort Wayne.
