On Sunday, July 26 at 6:35 p.m., deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department were dispatch to US 35 and CR 500 S to a personal injury crash. A 1999 Plymouth mini-van driven by Cory Reed, 29, of Bunker Hill, was traveling west on CR 500 S at US 35. The Sheriff’s Department says Reed failed to stop for the intersection and struck a northbound 2010 Honda driven by Rose Herrera, 46, of Kokomo. Herrera’s vehicle spun into the southbound lane of traffic and was struck a southbound 2008 Impala driven by Michelle Stoval, 44, of Logansport.

Sgt. Gary Armstrong said Reed suffered a minor cut ot his arm and complained of head pain. Herrera was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital and was listed in critical condition as of Sunday. Stovall complained of chest, back and hand injuries. Two juvenile passengers, age 12 and 17, in Stovall’s vehicle also sustained minor injuries.

Armstrong was assisted by Deputies David Wells, Brad Craven and Indiana Conservation Officer Logan Hodges. Walton Fire, New Waverly Fire and Prompt Ambulance were also at the scene.

Armstong said investigation is continuing at this time and suspects that alcohol is a factor in the crash, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. Test results are pending.
