The Salvation Army Logansport has shared some info for volunteers interested in helping with two of their annual holiday programs.
They are preparing to provide toys and gifts to 600 kids from birth to high school through the Angel Tree program. For information on how to help by purchasing gifts, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tags can be picked up after November 16, either from our location or a tree location around town, which will be listed on The Salvation Army’s Facebook page. Tags of 10 or more can be dropped off November 16-20. They may be scanned and emailed, too. Donations should be returned to the Salvation Army by December 14. That’s about 4 weeks to get the tags, purchase gifts, and get them back for distribution.
For Bell Ringing, sign up at www.registertoring.org. There are 1,200 volunteer hours available, November 19-December 24, Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m.-7p.m. Sites are Big Lots, D&R, Rural King, and 2 doors at Walmart.
Aprons will not be used this year. Wipes will be at each site to clean bells as they are handed off to the next volunteer. No more than 2 individuals at a time unless it is a family that lives in the same house.
Groups typically sign up for a series of hours and then fill those hours from people within those groups. Individuals are free to sign up, too!
Individuals and teams can sign up for just one hour at a time.
They are removing the 2 hour minimum for individuals and teams, but groups should consider a minimum of 3 hours if they are recruiting individuals or teams to rotate.
