ABOUT THE PRIMARY IN MAY
May 3, 2022 is Primary Election Day in Indiana. Federal, state and county offices are on the ballot.
The parties are nominating their candidates for November’s municipal election, so primary election voters must select either a Democratic or Republican ballot.
Republicans in Cass County have contested races for Cass County Commissioner District 3, Cass County Council Member District 4, Bethlehem Township Trustee and Tipton Township Trustee.
Democrats in Cass County have a contested race for US Representative 4th District.
ABOUT THE GENERAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER
The offices of Secretary of State, Auditor of State and Treasurer of State will be on the ballot for the General Election in November. Candidates for these offices are nominated by the parties at their state conventions.
Galveston Clerk-Treasurer and some town board seats in Galveston, Walton and Royal Center will also be on the ballot in November. Noon on August 1, 2022 is the deadline to file a declaration of candidacy to be the party nominee at a town convention for town office in a town with a population of less than 3,500.
Elections for several school board seats will be held during the General Election in November. To run for school board, petitions of nomination must be filed between July 27 and Aug. 26, 2022.
