The Cass County Historical Society has announced a first-time fundraising event, the Antiques Appraisal Fair September 23 & 24.

Have you always longed to have an Antiques Roadshow-type experience? * The historical society is bringing two acclaimed appraisers to Logansport for the CCHS Antiques Appraisal Fair. J. Scott Keller, Senior Appraiser at Blackard and Geiger, Indianapolis and David M. Ripley, VP of Appraisal Services at Ripley Auctions and Appraisals in Indianapolis.

Scott Keller’s company, Blackard and Geiger, Limited, has been noted for several high-profile appraisals. Scott was President of The Decorative Arts Society for seven years, and President of the Asian Art Society for two years, both at The Indianapolis Museum of Art/Newfields. He also taught courses in art history of the decorative arts for fourteen years at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. Scott has previously appeared on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow.

Dave Ripley is a third-generation Indianapolis art and antique professional with extensive experience owning a retail gallery and from his internationally acclaimed auction house history.

The Cass County Historical Society Antiques Appraisal Fair is a two-day event beginning the evening of September 23rd with “An Evening with Scott Keller.” Scott will share his experiences and compelling anecdotes with attendees. Light refreshments will be provided. The appraisal fair is Saturday, September 24 from 10am – 4pm. The appraisers encourage attendees to bring works of fine art (engravings, etchings, lithographs, oils, watercolor, sculptures, etc.), antiques, pottery, collectibles, and documents. No fine jewelry, please. If looking to have a larger item or furniture piece appraised, please bring a quality photograph in lieu of the piece itself.

Tickets are available at the historical society main office at 421 E. Broadway, Mon/Wed/Fri 10am – 2pm, or on-line at CCHSAppraisalFair.eventbrite.com. Tickets are $30 and include the appraisal of 1 item Saturday at the appraisal fair as well as attendance to “An Evening with Scott Keller” on Friday evening. (Entry only tickets will be sold to the public at the door both days for a lesser charge. CCHS members attend/watch for free. CCHS members do need to purchase a $30 ticket if they want an appraisal.) For more information on the event and ticket options visit EventBrite or www.casscountyhistory.org.

*This event is not affiliated in any way with Antiques Roadshow. All appraisals are for entertainment purposes only.
