Holiday info and updates for 2022

🗑️ TRASH PICKUP:

  • LOGANSPORT: Republic Services trash routes in Logansport were scheduled to run as normal the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s. However, due to the weather forecast, Republic Services would like to pick up Thursday 12/22 and Friday 12/23 routes on Thursday, 12/22. | See the schedule here.

📮 MAIL DELIVERY: This year, Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays, when Post Office locations are normally closed. Post Offices will also be closed on the Mondays after Christmas and New Year’s Day. Regular Post Office hours and mail delivery will resume on the Tuesday after each holiday. | More info

🏛️ Area Five Agency will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, January 2.

🚗 All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) branches will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Additionally, branches will be closed Saturday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 3. 🏛️ The Cass County Government Building will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26, Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 and Monday, January 2, 2023. The Cass County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

🚏 The Downtown Senior Center and Cass Area Transit (115 South 6th St, Logansport) will be closed on Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26, for the Christmas holidays. Additionally, there will be no City bus on Saturday, December 24. The Downtown Senior Center and Cass Area Transit will be closed on Friday December 30th for the New Year holiday. We will reopen on Monday, January 2nd. Additionally, there will be no City bus on Saturday December 31st.

🏛️ The Eel Township Trustee’s Office will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday. The office will also be closed on Monday, January 2 for the New Year holiday.

🔌 Logansport Utilities (LU) offices in the Logansport City Building will be closing early on Thursday, Dec. 22 with adjusted hours of 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. All LU offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, 2022 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. LU offices will also be closing early on Friday, December 30, 2022, adjusting hours to 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. All LU offices will be closed Monday, January 2, 2023 in observance of the New Years holiday. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

🚓 Cass County Sheriff’s administrative offices will be CLOSED Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holidays.

♻️ The Cass County Solid Waste (Recycling District) warehouse will be closed from Dec. 21-26 and Dec. 28 – Jan. 3.

⛪ All Emmaus Mission Facilities will be closed at noon on Friday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 30 and all day Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, January 2.

🏛️Galveston Town Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, 2022.

🏛️Walton Town Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 due to inclement weather and Monday, Dec. 26 in observance of the holiday.

⚖️ Walton Elevator will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, January 2.

🚌 Christmas Vacation

  • Logansport Schools – Dec. 21 – January 4. Students return Thursday, Jan. 5. (Calendar PDF)

🌲 LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL: The Logansport Street Department says you can place live Christmas trees by your trash receptacle for disposal. Make sure all bags, lights, ornaments and tree stands have been removed.

🎠 CAROUSEL RIDES: Alpha Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority has generously made a gift to pay the operating expenses of the Cass County Carousel for FREE Rides on Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27 from 1-5 p.m.

DATES TO REMEMBER:

The Winter Solstice occurs on Dec. 21 at 4:47 p.m.

Hanukkah will begin on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 18 and end on the evening of Monday, Dec. 26, 2022.

Christmas Eve is Saturday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day is Sunday, Dec. 25.

Kwanzaa is celebrated from Monday, Dec. 26 to Sunday, January 1.

New Year’s Eve is Saturday, Dec. 31 and New Year’s Day is Sunday, January 1.

Three Kings’ Day, or Epiphany, is Friday, Jan. 6.
