
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closings and Observances

Monday, January 20, 2025 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday. All Americans are encouraged to observe this day with appropriate civic, community, and service projects in honor of Dr. King and to visit www.MLKDay.gov to find Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service projects across our country.
Monday is also Inauguration Day and the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies will take place in Washington, DC.
Here are additional holiday closings and observances we’ve compiled:
Banks: Most banks are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Post Office: USPS will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Trash Pickup: The next holiday that affects the Logansport trash pickup schedule is Memorial Day is May. We have the schedules posted here.
Cass County Recycling: The recycling warehouse will be closed Monday Jan. 20, 2025 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Cass County Government: The Cass County Government Building (courthouse) will be closed Monday, Jan. 20. The Cass County Commissioners meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan 21 at 1 p.m.
Logansport City Government Offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025. Regular service will resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Galveston Town Hall will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
Walton Town Hall will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day and will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Caston School Corporation will be closed Monday January 20, 2025 due to the prediction of extreme windchill temperatures. Caston students will have a REMOTE LEARNING DAY and follow the online schedules sent out by teachers and principals. Caston is also experiencing a high number of student and staff absences due to sickness. Being closed tomorrow will give us a chance to do some extra sanitizing that will help with these germs in the building. Please check your parent email for the state guidelines on keeping students home due to illness.
Pioneer Regional Schools will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025 due to cold temperatures. It will be a live eLearning Day – Google Meet with teachers based on your schedule between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
BMV: All branches will be closed Saturday, Jan. 18 through Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Area Five Agency will be closed on Monday, January 20, and will resume regular operations on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Talk to a Lawyer Day: The Cass County Bar Association and Area Five Agency will host Talk to a Lawyer Day on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event provides underserved members of the public free twenty-minute legal consultations with local attorneys via telephone. Anyone who wishes participate in the event should call Area Five at 574-722-4451 to speak with an attorney during the event. The Cass County Democrats will host MLK25: A Social to Honor Dr. King January 20, 2025, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Science Project Brewing Company, Logansport.
IVY TECH:
Renowned poet and social activist Sonia Sanchez will serve as keynote speaker for Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo’s 2025 “Doing the Dream” events. This annual event, now in its 21st edition, is designed to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to keep alive his commitment to justice, equity and peace within our students and our community. The traditional community banquet is set for Thursday, Feb. 6, in Hingst Hall on the Ivy Tech Kokomo Campus. On Friday Feb. 7, Ms. Sanchez will be participating in an “artivism” workshop with Ivy Tech students from around the state as well as a convocation for Ivy Tech Kokomo faculty, staff and students. | More info
