William “Bill” Henderson, 85 of Logansport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 17, 2026, in IU Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, following a brief illness.

Born September 8, 1940, in Delphi, Indiana, he was the son of the late Ernest Robert and Alberta Judith (Maroney) Henderson.

Bill was a 1960 graduate of Washington Township High School in Cass County.

On May 7, 1961, in Logansport, he married the love of his life, Jill A. (Ayres) Henderson, who survives him.

Bill had every quality that made a consummate salesman – personable, caring, never pushy, and just ornery enough to make people smile. He spent over 38 years selling cars at Hendrickson Motor Sales, a career he genuinely enjoyed. Even after retiring, he couldn’t quite hang it up; he went right back to doing what he loved, selling cars at “What a Deal!” in Kokomo. People trusted him because he treated them like friends, not customers.

A lifelong golfer, the game became his second home once he retired. He also loved Bingo and, much to Jill’s delight, he even enjoyed shopping – the perfect husband.

Family was the center of his world, especially his grandkids. Some of his happiest moments were the simple ones: riding the Carousel, taking them shopping and spoiling them a little, or grabbing lunch together at Mr. Happy Burger. He took them everywhere, building memories that will last far longer than any of them realize today.

Surviving with his wife of 65 years, Jill Henderson, are his daughters, Heidi (Jim) Brown; and Hayley Hettinger; one brother, Ronnie (Shirley) Henderson; his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Zachary (Ali) Brown, Bailee Brown, Kirsten (Derrick) Daily, Kelsey (Dorshon) Deans, Noah (Emily) Hendrickson, Jada Hettinger and Karissa Hettinger; and great-grandchildren, Stella and Marlowe Daily, Gideon, Judah, Ezra, and Moses Deans; Quinn and Grey Hendrickson, and Dylan Brown.

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Tom Hettinger; and his siblings, Robert, Judy and Rick Henderson.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
