Cass County, Indiana was named in honor of General Lewis Cass of Michigan (governor of Michigan Territory through 1831). Cass County itself was formed by an act of the state legislature on December 18, 1828.

Additional parking options for those visiting the Cass County Government Building: Jurors for Cass County trials, and anyone on official County business, can park at the All Saints parking lot located at the southwest corner of 3rd and Broadway streets, beginning on October 3, 2022. The lot will be available Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. with very few exceptions, such as for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Jurors and prospective jurors should use the All Saints parking lot beginning on the east side of that parking lot. | More info

COMMISSIONERS MEETINGS: First and third Monday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Commissioners Hearing Room in the Cass County Government Building. TOWNSHIPS
Each township has a trustee who serves as the “chief administration office” and a three-member board. The trustees are in charge of conducting township business, receiving and dispersing all monies belonging to the townships, poor relief, work required maintaining township properties, caring for abandoned cemeteries and fire protection.
