Merit Deputy

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of merit deputy. The application process is open through 12 p.m. on June 6, 2025. Written and physical agility testing will occur on June 7, 2025 at Pioneer High School in Royal Center, IN. Cass County offers an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary starting at $64,040. Deputies have a take-home car with off-duty use, a vested pension after eight years of service, and access to the Cass County Employer Clinic.

The application process may include a background investigation, polygraph, written aptitude test, physical agility testing, and an interview ith the Sheriff’s Office Merit Board. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

United States Citizen
21 years of age when appointed
Posses a high school diploma or equivalent
Possess a valid Indiana Driver’s License
Corrected vision of at least 20/30 in each eye

Successful applicants may be required to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and complete a one-year probationary period.
