About AHEC: Area Health Education Center is a national, grant funded organization, administered by the Indiana University School of Family Medicine and hosted/housed locally by the Fulton Economic Development Corporation in Rochester Indiana. AHEC provides healthcare education programs to youth, manages clinical rotations, and provides continuing education to existing healthcare providers.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, marketing, public relations or healthcare related field with professional experience preferred. Candidates must be proficient with video conferencing software, social media, and online program management. Expert communication skills, event planning experience, and program development knowledge required. Understanding of volunteerism and underserved populations strongly desired. Candidates must have a passion for education, diversity, and philanthropy.

Job Duties:
The Program Coordinator will assist the Executive Director and other North Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (Rochester, Indiana) staff with the development and coordination of health professions clinical training and education programs with a variety of community, academic, and clinical partners in an 11 county region of North Central Indiana. Programs include but are not limited to AHEC Scholars, AHEC Continuing Education, STEPS, and MARCH. Programing will be delivered virtually and in person.

Collaborate with regional educators, health professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to identify community needs and student interests, develop and implement curriculum, schedule events and presentations as well as resolve logistical issues as needed.

Develop and coordinate enrichment experiences for high school and undergraduate students with the goal of promoting future successful recruitment into health care practice in medically underserved North Central Indiana communities in order to promote AHEC’s mission.

Assess and report regional needs and capacities with particular attention to medically underserved communities and at risk populations.

Evaluate various programs on an ongoing basis, gather and record program data, and prepare quarterly reports.

Effectively communicate via social media regarding NCI AHEC programs as well as manage website content.

Other duties as assigned including assisting other AHEC staff.

Skills Required:

Familiarity with the structures and systems of community schools, colleges and universities, health care services, public and community health infrastructure.

Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations, including clinicians, secondary and post-secondary educators, community, and health advocacy leaders, and students.

Demonstrated experience with public speaking and presentations.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Strong organizational skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

Knowledge of MS Office, video conferencing software, Canvas, Salesforce.

Functional Requirements:

Position will require a moderate amount of travel within North Central Indiana and occasional national travel.

Attend Indiana AHEC and National AHEC Events as required.
Must be able to work independently.

Position requires remaining in a stationary position at a desk for extended periods of time for the majority of assigned duties.
Position also requires some physical labor – event set up and tear down, delivering supplies to community partners, etc.

Regularly visits and gives presentations in classrooms, meeting rooms, and the regional community. Coordination of some events may require extensive movement to set up and oversee activities, make presentations and interact with attendees.

Requires the use of computers and computer systems to set up functions, enter data, create documents and spreadsheets, and process information.
Requires effective problem solving and the presentation of a professional demeanor while meeting deadlines and achieving critical outcomes, even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities and short-notice deadlines.

This position requires creativity and resourcefulness in developing new ideas to achieve NCI-AHEC’s goals and in outreaching to new contacts.

Employment Information:

Salary based on experience
Flexible hours but some evenings and weekends may be required.
Program Coordinator will be a full time position with benefits package.
