Two injured in one vehicle crash on SR 16

On August 7, 2015 at 9:58 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to a personal injury accident on State Road 16 just west of County Road 500 East in Cass County. One vehicle went off the roadway and overturned.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says Kayla Shidler, 23, of Twelve Mile, was operating a 2004 Pontiac Grand Priz west bound on State Road 16 at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle as she went through the curve  just west of CR 500 E. The vehicle went off the north side of the roadway striking the ditch and then a large rock before flipping onto its top. The driver and passenger had to be assisted out of the vehicle by the fire department.
The driver and 3-year-old passenger were properly seat belted in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Shidler was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital by Prompt EMS for treatment. The child was transported from the scene by a family member.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. Pat Zeider with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies, Indiana State Police, Prompt Ambulance Service, Lucerne Fire and Twelve Mile Fire.
