Introducing the Cass County INfo app

Last Updated on January 31, 2022 by Cass County Communication Network / Existential Media LLC

Toward the end of 2020, we learned that there were some changes coming that would affect our CASSINFO mobile alerts in a big way. We spent a lot of time researching and trying to find a way to continue the service, and along the way, we decided that maybe it was time to pursue another idea we’d talked about for quite some time.

Our new Cass County INFO app is officially available on both the App Store and the Google Play store as of Wednesday, May 26, 2021!

The app joins our websites (CassCountyCalendar.com and CassCountyOnline.com), e-mail newsletter and social media as one of the ways we connect people with local information.

Phill Dials built the app, which offers community news, local events and a community guide. We’ll be able to use push notifications to share information, and the app also includes a deals and reminders section where local businesses and organizations can share the kinds of info they used to send through CASSINFO.

We’ve always been pretty humble about what we do, but when we had to hit pause on CASSINFO, we learned how many people have come to rely on the services we provide.

Since we started Cass County Communication Network in 2010, we’ve focused heavily on building an audience and creating content to serve that audience, and that won’t change. But we’ve also identified sustainability as one of the things we need to focus on to ensure that what we’ve built will be around for years to come.

We provide services that are free, but those services aren’t free to provide. There are costs for software, web hosting, and people who are on call 24/7 to share information.

For years, advertising was our primary source of revenue, and we had other part-time jobs.

Over the last year, small businesses have struggled, and we started noticing how other people were building communities.

So we added options for people who appreciate the services we provide to support them. We decided to ask if people were interested in supporting the app and we were blown away.

Thank you to the following people who supported our campaign to support the final stages of the app development back in March and helped make it possible for you to download it today: Pam Laird, Nikki Malott, Becki Harris, Rachel Ellington, Cami Hall, Amy Werner, Lindsey Miller, Rachel Richey, Kathy, Bill Bauman and Kathy and Bob Dunderman.

If you’re interested in supporting the services we provide, you can do that here.

If you’re interested in advertising with us, you can find more info here.

We hope you enjoy the app and we’re looking forward to sharing the great things happening in our community for years to come!
