citysealLogansport Mayor Dave Kitchell today announced that the director of the Logansport Housing Authority has resigned.

Rocky Buffum has accepted a position with the Indiana State Department of Health. Authority President Chad Higgins said his decision to leave was not predicated by the change in city administrations this year.

“We appreciate Rocky’s service to Logansport as a full-time employee and a member of the Logansport Parks and Recreation Board,” Mayor Kitchell said. “We appreciate his efforts to secure health insurance for authority employees and to run the authority on what has been a relatively modest budget.”

The authority board has appointed Buffum’s assistant, Logansport native Molly McBride, as the acting director. McBride is the daughter of former Logansport Fire Chief Robert McBride.
Kitchell also has announced three appointments to the Logansport Parks and Recreation Board. Former school board member Lynne Ness, who previously served as a school board appointment to the parks board, will serve out Buffum’s unexpired term. She is a Republican. Democrat Duane Ullom, a Lewis Cass High School science teacher, will be on the board. Republican Beth Myers, daughter of former Cass County Auditor and county councilwoman Chod Gibson, also has been named to the board.
The Logansport School Board will appoint a member to the parks board to replace Jeff Smith, who resigned earlier this month due to a conflict of interest.
