The Cass County Arts Alliance will hold their annual fundraiser, ArtRageous, Friday night at the Memorial Home. The event features a live auction, a silent auction, bourbon tastings, heavy appetizers and unlimited micro brew beer. Tickets are $30 at the door. ArtRageous begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15.

The Pioneer Elementary Student Council in Royal Center is holding their annual carnival and dinner on Friday, April 15, 2016. The carnival is from 5-8. The day of the carnival, tickets will be 4 for $1. Dan’s Fish and Chicken Fry is from 4:00-7:30. The meal includes: coleslaw, chips, applesauce, and dessert w/ lemonade, tea, or water. Tickets are $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for children (ages 5-12). Tickets can be purchased at the elementary or at the door. Carry outs available.

Garage sales are popping up on Cass County Calendar, including several this weekend. There’s a rummage sale at Miami Baptist Church on Saturday. St James Lutheran Church will hold a garage and bake sale. Carey Services is having a sale Saturday at 1611 Chase Road, and Relay for Life of Cass County is having a community yard sale Saturday at Ivy Tech Community College.

Saturday is Record Store Day and the Record Farm in downtown Logansport will have exclusive releases, special sales and a free show that starts at 2 p.m.  Doors open at 8 a.m. but the State Theatre will open at 6:30 Saturday morning, with pastries and coffee served by The Blue Door Bakery.

Saturday, April 16 is the first of four free Fishing Days in Indiana. On these special days, Indiana residents who are age 18 and older can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp.

The monthly Acoustic Round Robin at the Logansport Library begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16.

There’s a benefit lunch for the Adam Scott family Saturday at Revolution Community Church. The event begins at noon and continues until the food is gone — the menu includes pulled pork from a local farmer plus sides. A minimum donation of $5 per meal is requested.

Just down the road in Miami County, the 11th annual North Central Indiana Hamfest is set for 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at the Miami County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The Scrabble Club at the Royal Center Public Library meets from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Upgrades training center will host an all-ages painting event Saturday, April 16 from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $25 and includes refreshments.

Sunday, April 17, the Logansport Children’s Choir will host its Sweets and Songs event from 2-4 p.m. at the State Theatre in downtown Logansport. The afternoon will feature performances by the Concert and Chamber Choirs of the Logansport Children’s Choir, as well as individual and small group vocal and instrumental selections. Dessert and beverages will be served. A free-will donation will be taken to benefit the activities of the choir. The Logansport Children’s Choir recently announced that it’s been selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June of 2017.

An open house on the campus of Indiana University Kokomo is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, celebrating $14 million in renovations to the Main Building. The event includes a reception and student-led tours. Free parking is available on campus.

Wrapping up the weekend, a community worship service will take place Sunday, April 17 from 3-5 p.m. at McHale Performing Arts Center. The service is entitled “We the Church” and will include music from a special regional all-star worship band, Worship Team 6. Nationally renowned speaker Peter Heck will deliver the message.

And on Monday, the community is invited to attend the 2016 Primary Election Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College. Candidates for auditor, treasurer, surveyor and county council at large have been invited to attend.

The Cass County Bicentennial Committee will also meet Monday, and, a reminder that Tax Day falls on Monday, April 18 this year.
