rockybuffumRocky Buffum, a Logansport resident, has recently received certification as a Professional Emergency Manager from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

The Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) certification is Indiana’s standard to help raise and maintain professional standards and recognize individuals who have demonstrated basic competencies in the emergency management profession.  Interested persons complete a series of courses, exercises, professional contributions and meet work experience requirements in the emergency management discipline or related public safety fields. They then submit an application to apply and once approved take an examination for certification.

In this capacity, Buffum serves as the primary point of contact for local health departments within his assigned district for issues relating to emergency preparedness and response division goals and objectives.

Buffum also works as an Associate Faculty Member teaching courses in Emergency Management for the University of Phoenix and was recently elected Board Chair for the Logansport Corps of the Salvation Army.
