Crews on scene of massive fire at Closson Lumber

Crews battled a massive fire early this morning in the 800 block of Erie Avenue at the Closson Lumber building. EMA director Alvin Beckman said the call came at 4:23 a.m.

Multiple fire departments from surrounding communities assisted the Logansport Fire Department.

Logansport Fire Investigator Jason Miller said the cause of the fire at Closson Lumber was still undetermined as of 11:30 this morning.

Miller said that the fire on Erie Avenue was the second call that the Logansport Fire Department responded to this morning.

Miller said a fire behind the former Richardson’s Cleaners building in the 600 block of East Market St. was intentionally set. That call came in at 3:50 a.m.

Beckman expected Erie Avenue to remain closed for a good portion of the day. Spear and Spencer Streets had re-opened by 11:30 a.m. but crews were still working on Erie Avenue between 7th and 10th Streets.
