Logansport Police responded to a call around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13 that turned into a 10 hour standoff.

Lt. A.J. Rozzi said the call was in reference to an individual who had allegedly “threatened suicide, had a rifle and had barricaded himself inside the residence.”

Logansport Police responded and set up outside the residence in the 400 block of West Miami, and the tactical team also responded.

“We attempted to make contact with the individual for several hours. During this stand off, we threw a communication device inside the window to try and speak with him, which was unsuccessful. We utilized and introduced CS gas into the residence, which was also unsuccessful.”

Rozzi says that around 6 a.m. Sunday morning, the individual began to respond to authorities and exited the residence. Rozzi says the individual was not injured but was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital.

No criminal charges have been filed. Logansport Police were assisted at the scene by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and Prompt Ambulance Service.
