Here are a few things you might want to know today:

HALF-STAFF: Flags are at half-staff through sunset on Friday, Sept. 30 to honor the memory of former President and Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres. More info here.

COMMUNITY GRANTS: 13 organizations received community grants from the Cass County Community Foundation this year. The total amount of funding awarded was just under $80,000. Read more here.

BUDGET 101: About 25 people attended last night’s “City Budget 101” presentation at The State Theatre to learn more about the current financial situation for the city of Logansport. Thanks to all who attended, and especially to Eric Walsh of Umbaugh and Associates for presenting and The State Theatre Preservation Society for hosting.

NEED A FLU SHOT? The Cass County Health Department will hold a walk-in flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today.

STORM WATER: LMU’s stormwater management board will meet at 10 a.m. today. See the agenda here.

POSSIBLE RAISES: The mayor says Logansport city employees will be asked to pay more for their health insurance next year, but will earn more to cover the costs if a recommendation made Monday is approved by the full city council. Read more here.

RIVER BLUFF RUN: The annual River Bluff Run, promoting breast cancer awareness, is set for Saturday, Oct. 8. Register by Friday, Sept. 30 and save! Check out more info here.

SCHOLARSHIP CRUISE: Reservations are being accepted for the Oct. 7 Ivy Tech Scholarship Cruise aboard The Madam Carroll on Lake Freeman to benefit Cass County and White County students attending Ivy Tech Community College. Details here.

TORCH RELAY: Indiana’s Bicentennial Torch Relay will come through Cass County on Friday, Oct. 7 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Mark your calendar and we’ll be sharing more information soon.

“GIRLS IN MANUFACTURING” SUMMIT: Girls in grades 8-12 will join Ivy Tech Community College & Century Career Center in celebrating National Manufacturing Week on Saturday, October 8 at the 2nd Annual “Girls in Manufacturing Summit.” You can learn more about the summit and register at cccpmt.weebly.com or call the Century Career Center at 574-722-3811.
