Here are a few things you might want to know today:

EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Yesterday was a big day for educators in our community. The first Indiana Teacher of the Year from Logansport was announced. Congratulations to Jitka Nelson of Logansport High School! We have an interview with her here.

The City of Logansport also announced the recipients of its new Margaret Newby Awards. Congrats to Kathy Bahnaman and Marla Sellers! Read more about them here.

And finally, Superintendent Glenda Ritz was in town for the awards, and also made a stop at Landis Elementary where she visited with special guests from China and toured the school, with a stop in the dual language kindergarten class. See photos here.

TRAINING AVAILABLE: There’s a new training opportunity for industries operating within Cass, Fulton, Howard, Miami or Tipton counties, through the North Central Indiana Regional Incumbent Worker Program. Read more here.

TORCH RELAY: A week from today, the Bicentennial Torch Relay will come through Cass County from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2016. Check out the route here and watch our page for more details.

HOMECOMING WEEKEND: Mayor Dave Kitchell has designated Oct. 7-9 as “Homecoming Weekend” in Logansport. Read more here.
