cotnerRoss Rene Cotner, 57, of Peru (Cass County), passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2016, in his home.

Born March 3, 1959, in Peru, he was the son of Richard “Dick” and Dolores (Heck) Cotner, who survive in Peru (Cass County).

A 1978 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, Ross served as the manager of the Kings basketball team during one of the most exciting times in the school’s history.

Following graduation, Ross began a career with the Southeastern School Corporation working at LCHS as a custodian for 24 years.

Ross was a member of the New Waverly United Methodist Church and loved singing in the church choir. He was also active in the Miami County Barbershop Singers group.

A longtime member of Area V Special Olympics of Cass County, Ross was an avid bowler.

Surviving with his parents are one sister, Becky (Bob) Pear, Peru (Cass County); two brothers, Rich (Deb) Cotner of Logansport and Randy (Barb) Cotner of Columbus, Ohio; seven nieces and nephews: Tabitha (Dana) Hildebrand, Angie Pear, Sean Pear, Tasha Cotner, Courtney Cotner, Kyle Cotner and Allie Cotner; four great-nieces and one great-nephew; and one great-great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by a great-niece, Tara Hildebrand.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Ross Cotner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Rife officiating.

Burial will follow in the Miami Baptist Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in the funeral chapel.
