The Logansport Band Dept. is proud to announce that several students have earned instrumental honors recently.

8 students advanced to the Indiana State School Music Association Solo and ensemble STATE contest by receiving a gold medal in the highest category (Group 1) at the Kokomo site on January 28.  These students are: Nick Barr, Tyler Dexter, Sara DeInnocentes, Luke Fincher, Emily Justice, and Natalie Shepler.  Holland Dewitt and Olivia Newton earned STATE entries on two instruments.  The students will travel to North Central High School on February 25 to see if they qualify for Gold medals from the judges at STATE.

This January, two Logan Band students were selected for the Indiana junior High Allstate band.  Luke Fincher was selected for the second year in a row on trumpet; and Mayle Goad was chosen on her first attempt on trombone.  Luke studies with Dave Danhauser and Mayle takes lessons from Rachel Hinshaw.  Luke and Mayle spent several days in Ft. Wayne, along with the best players from around the state of Indiana in grades 7-9, preparing music for the Indiana Music Educators convention.  The conductor this year was Dr. Frank Tracz, from Kansas State University.  They performed on Saturday, January 14 at the historic Embassy Theater in downtown Ft.
