Cell phone restrictions begin April 1 at Cass County Government Building

Last Updated on March 26, 2017 by cassnetwork

Beginning April 1, 2017  visitors to the Cass County Government Building will be required to leave their cell phones and tablets at the security desk.

The county has lock boxes for the phones with individual keys for the owner of the cell phone, according to one of the county commissioners.

According to an ordinance adopted March 6 by the Cass County Commissioners, the purpose is to facilitate court and county office procedures without interruption, reduce noise levels in the corridors and any unnecessary intimidation of county employees.

Anyone seeking to use their phone or tablet in court or for another purpose related to county business must obtain written permission from that court or county officer.

Court officers (including attorneys and law enforcement personnel) and county employees are exempt as long as they are in compliance with their individual department cell phone regulations, if applicable.

The Cass County Government Building is located at 200 Court Park. The security entrance is on the east side of the building, off of 4th Street.
