Volunteer Courtad ‘Citizen of the Week’

Last Updated on December 28, 2017 by cassnetwork

A Logansport woman who has been faithfully supportive of the local Special Olympics games is the latest recipient of a city honor.

Kathy Courtad, who has coordinated various Special Olympics games and tournaments, is this week’s Logansport Citizen of the Week. Courtad is a Logansport High School graduate and former secretary for the LHS Athletic Department. She has been active in Psi Iota Xi sorority and fund-raisers for a number of local causes.

“Kathy is the kind of person, along with many other volunteers with Special Olympics, who doesn’t do just enough to get by when it comes to volunteering,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said Monday. “She does whatever it takes to make her events bigger and better every year, and last weekend’s basketball tournament at the Berry Bowl again showed visitors from throughout northern area what kind of people support Special Olympics here in Logansport.”

The Citizen of the Week Award is presented on an ongoing basis to recognize local residents and natives for their work or volunteerism. She will receive a certificate from the Mayor’s Office and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
