Last Updated on April 19, 2017 by cassnetwork

As the weather continues to be undecided, HOT then COLD, Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services would like to remind the community that we continue to accept applications for enrollment in the 2016-2017 Energy Assistance Program (EAP).  Families have the opportunity to submit one application during the program year, which began October 1, 2016 and goes through May 12, 2017, for a one -time assistance with their heating bills during the winter heating months, as funding is available.

Please visit our website www.areafive.com and click on “Financial and Housing” tab and then on “Energy Assistance” for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) application and energy saving tips and ideas in a video to expand knowledge of how to conserve energy in your home.  The energy education survey you complete after watching the video will aid you in getting your FREE energy saving kit.  The Energy Saving Kits are available to families that have been approved for Energy Assistance and participate in an Energy Education opportunity to learn energy conservation techniques for the home.  Participation can be completed from the comfort of your home, online, or in a face-to-face setting at our office. For a face-to-face appointment, please call 1-800-654-9421 or your local Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services office.  Energy efficient items in kits vary yearly, but the type of items may include compact florescent light bulbs or LED light bulbs, thermometers, faucet aerators, along with other tips and tools.  All kits must be picked up at the local office by you or your authorized representative listed on the survey by August 11, 2017.

Helping families stay safe and warm during the colder months of the year, while encouraging them to increase their net worth through programs like the IDA savings program are essential for improving one quality of life. Need an application or help completing an application for one of our programs, contact 1-800-654-9421, 574722-4451, or visit your local Area Five Agency office.
