McQuinn named ‘Citizen of the Week’

A local woman who has been a tireless advocate of recognizing veterans and their contributions is this week’s honoree as the Logansport Citizen of the Week.

When the World War II Honor Roll was updated, Elizabeth McQuinn spent considerable time finding relatives of the men on the board to give them the wooden plaques from the original honor roll. Through social media, she often cites the contributions of American veterans, many of which are sometimes taken for granted.

“Many people gladly clap when a veteran marches in a parade on a holiday, but for Elizabeth, literally every day is Veterans Day because she never forgets the sacrifices the men and women of our armed forces have made,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said.

The mayor said Logansport is fortunate to have volunteers like her who not only work on projects honoring veterans, but keep veterans’ issues at the forefront after their military battles are over.

The Citizen of the Week Award is presented on an ongoing basis to recognize local residents and natives for their work or volunteerism.
