Summer Activities in Cass County

We’re excited to share youth summer camps and programs happening in or open to Cass County kids.

Lewis Cass Girls Basketball Camp (Grades 3-8)
Lewis Cass Jr/Sr High School Athletic Department will be conducting its Girls Basketball Camp for those student-athletes that will be in grades 3rd-8th (for the 2017-18 school year) the week of June 19th-23rd. Camp for incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be held each day from 8-9:15 a.m., with incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders holding camp from 9:30AM-11AM each day. Cost for the camp is $40, with discounts available for siblings attending camp. Forms can be picked up at the Cass High School office, SESC Corporation Office, The Dog Shed, or register the first day of camp. Please call Coach Mike Collins at 765-438-8201 for further details.

LAA Art Camp
The “Mimi Leslie” Art Camp will take place July 17 – 21 from 10 a.m. to noon each day at the Gallery, 424 Front Street. The cost, which includes all supplies and snacks, is $25 for the week. Call 574-735-2915 to register for the event.

Logansport Parks Dept. Youth Track Program
Registration for the Parks Dept Youth Track Program will be on Monday, May 22 & Wed May 24 from 6-7 p.m. at the LHS Stadium.  The first track practice will be on Wednesday May 31st from 6-7 at the Stadium.   Kids ages 4-15 are welcome to come and participate.  Presently there is no cost associated with this program.  Kids just need to bring water and be rested.  If you can’t make registration please contact Corinna Linback at 765-437-6672.  Kids from surrounding county schools are welcome to come too.  We realize this is baseball\ softball season so we do not require our runners to be at every practice.  This is a great environment for kids to try out different activities to do with track & field and learn leadership skills and learn how to be a supportive team member. Practice will be every Monday & Wednesday from 6-7 pm. through July 29th at the LHS Stadium. The Track Meet will be held Saturday, July 29 @ 10 a.m. Events include: 100,200,400,800,1600 meter run, 4×4 relays, standing long jump and softball throw

LiL’ Anglers Fishing Derby
Saturday, June 3, 2017 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Izaak Walton League Pond, 1046 N. State Road 17
Boys & girls 6-15 yrs.
No cost to participants
Children will fish and compete for the biggest, longest & smallest fish.
Parental involvement is a MUST!
Registration Forms MUST be completed before the event at the Park Office, 1701 Dividend Dr. across from Huston Park or by calling 574-753-7388 prior to the event. This is a strictly “catch & release program”. Participants are responsible for their own equipment & bait.
Lil’ Anglers Fishing Derby Awards will begin at 11:45 am.

Logansport Parks Dept. Tennis Lessons
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department’s Tennis Lessons registrations will be May 15 through June 19. at the Parks Office, 1701 Dividend Dr. across from Huston Park
Instructors: Donn Gobbi
Lessons will be June 19th – June 23rd
K-3rd grade: 1-2 pm
4th grade – Beginning Middle School: 2-3 pm.
Advanced Middle School: 3-4 pm.
Logansport High School Tennis Courts.
Cost $30.00 for 5 hour-long sessions.

Lady Berry Basketball Camp (Grades 3-8)

The Lady Berry Basketball Camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball needed to play the sport properly.

Logansport Berry Volleyball Camp 2017  (Grades 3-8)
June 20-23, 2017
3rd, 4th & 5th grade – 12:30-  2 p.m. $30
6th, 7th and 8th grade – 2 – 3:30 p.m. $30
Grade levels are for the 2017-2018 school year

Logansport Youth Gymnastics Camp
July 10-14
Campers will work on equipment to learn gymnastics skills appropriate for their age and skill levels. All campers will receive a t-shirt. Registration forms available at your child’s school or at the LHS Athletic Office.
Location: LHS Gymnastics Facility (Green building behind LHS tennis courts)
Bitty Berries Flipper Camp (Ages 3-5) 8:30-10 a.m. $35
Felix Flippers Camp (Ages 6-8) 10:15-11:45 a.m. $35

Summer Day Camp at the Cass County Family Y
Children in 1st through 6th grades will enjoy a fun-filled day of activities that are focused on preventing Summer Learning Loss and increasing reading levels. Activities include swimming, outdoor exploration, field trips, gym time and more. Camp hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m Breakfast, lunch and snack included. Weekly fees: $85/$75 for YMCA members and $100 for non-members. Financial assistance available. Applications for assistance due May 9. Junior counselors (ages 13+) are welcome. Free Middle School Memberships
The Cass County Family YMCA is offering middle school students free membership to support and encourage youths to live healthy lifestyles and make responsible choices. You must be present and bring a school ID, roster, report card and a parent or guardian to the Cass County Family YMCA.  Parents complete required paperwork and sign form. Middle school membership activates May 26, 2017 and runs through Aug. 8, 2017. Membership includes use of the fitness center (after completing fitness orientation), pool, gymnasium, Activity Center, exercise classes and reduced program costs. For more info, call 574-753-5141.

Free Summer Movies
Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 10 a.m. from May 31 to August 4, 2017 at Mary Max Cinemas in Logansport. All movies rated PG. Free admission, limited seating. Accepting donations weekly for Emmaus Mission & Cass Co. Humane Society. Check out the schedule here.

Vine Arts Kids Camp
First annual Kids Summer Art Camp.
Each camp session will consist of three consecutive nights of artist-led paintings and crafts. Refreshments will be served each night. The total cost of the camp is $40 per child and that cost includes a FREE CAMP T-SHIRT if enrolled by the deadline.

Summer Sack Lunches

Vineyard Community Church is providing sack lunches to area children on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July from 11am-noon at Franklin Elementary School, 410 W. Miami, Logansport. Tables will be set up near the playground area. Begins June 5. No lunch on July 4.

Food Finders Free Meal Site

Food Finders sponsors one free meal site in Cass County.  Meals will be provided on first come, first serve basis from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June 5 – August 4 at River of Life Christian Church, 130 Mall Road in Logansport. Free meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under and to persons over 18 years who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled. Free meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
