Jay Schimmel - Trine University Student of the MonthJay Schimmel is a criminal justice major at Trine University in Logansport. Much like many Trine students, Jay went off to college right after high school. Upon completion of his associate degree, Jay joined the work force. Working in a neighboring community, Jay is a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy and is looking down the road to the future towards eventual retirement. Jay felt returning to school to complete his bachelor degree would allow him to be better situated to explore more options for employment after his retirement with the Sheriff’s Department. When Jay came to Trine University, he was very happy to learn that the prior credits he’d earned from 20 years ago would transfer into his bachelor degree. In just about 18 months, Jay has completed his course work with Trine University. Jay found the flexible format to be conducive for work and family life.  The evening as well as the online format in which classes are offered at Trine University allowed him to continue to work his day job.  Jay will graduate on May 13, 2017 and Trine University congratulates Jay and recognizes that his hard work has paid off as he accomplished his academic goals.
