INDIANAPOLIS – Ivy Tech Community College will conduct a public hearing regarding the setting of tuition and student fees for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years on Friday, May 19.
The hearing will be at 9 a.m. EST in the William Morris Boardroom on the third floor of the North Meridian Center at Ivy Tech’s Downtown Indianapolis Campus, located at 50 W. Fall Creek Parkway North Drive, Indianapolis.
The current 2016-17 in-state tuition rate is $135.15 per credit hour, the lowest in the state. The current technology fee is $60 per semester. The proposed new tuition rate would include a $2.70 per credit hour increase for 2017-18 and a $2.76 per credit hour increase for 2018-19. The technology fee will increase by $15 per semester starting with fall 2018. This marks the first such technology fee increase at Ivy Tech since 2010.
The current out-of-state rate tuition rate is $264.40 and will increase by $5.29 in 2017-18 and $5.39 in 2018-19. The current out-of-state distance education rate is $158.50 and will increase by $3.17 in 2017-18 and $3.23 in 2018-19.
Ivy Tech will continue to honor frozen tuition for all Hoosier veterans eligible for the GI Bill, members of the Indiana National Guard, Hoosier veterans and Indiana members of the federal military reserve, something it instituted in 2013 when tuition was $111.15.
The additional tuition will be used to further assist the largest student body in the state by providing the necessary resources to improve student outcomes, enhance workforce alignment and increase the completion of more degrees and certificates. This includes, but is not limited to, new and expanded high-wage, high-demand workforce degrees and certificates, additional advising and career coaching opportunities, faculty development, improved student-focused technology and new classroom equipment to allow for real-time, real-world training.
The additional technology fee will allow the Community College to increase access for students and expand resources to better engage with students in an ever-changing environment. This includes the development of new technology-driven tools which provide streamlined, effective communications to improve the student experience of our working adult students, which now encompass nearly 70 percent of the student body.
