Alisha Boyd is the June 2017 Trine University Student of the Month. Taking on a double major, Alisha is majoring in Criminal Justice as well as Psychology. Alisha transferred from Ivy Tech Community College after completing her associate degree in Criminal Justice. As a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honors society at Ivy Tech, Alisha was able to take advantage of the generous tuition discount offered to Ivy Tech students that are members of Phi Theta Kappa. Alisha has continued to acquire academic honors since making the transition to Trine University.
“The faculty at Trine are great, and offer more than just information from the textbook and PowerPoint,” Alisha says. “They bring real life experience to their instruction, and offer a deeper understanding of the field of study, which helps when choosing a future career. Lectures are engaging, and assignments are challenging, as well as thought-provoking. The staff and instructors are also understanding of the challenges of being an adult learner with a job and family, and work with the student to be as successful as possible.”
Alisha’s ultimate career goal is to obtain a master degree in social work and practice as an addictions counselor.
