‘Citizen of the Week’ goes to Buck

An advocate for a new running and walking trail on the south side of the city is the recipient of a city honor.

Ryan Buck, who has been actively involved in creating a trail through the Flory Nature Preserve, is this week’s Logansport Citizen of the Week.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said today he is honoring Buck because of his resolve to establish a trail in the preserve. Those efforts have enabled this Saturday’s Flory 5k run and one-mile walk to be held.

“Flory Nature Preserve was named for Wilmer Flory, a former teacher and city councilman who contributed so much to the beauty of our city and county,” Kitchell said. “What Ryan has done has opened up a new vista of nature that extends from the Ivy Tech campus across the south side to Hamilton Street. It’s an area of the city that has deserved attention for decades, and Ryan has given it his. He has set a good example for the rest of us.”

The Citizen of the Week recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
