A Logansport man who has been involved in securing a $38.9 million grant for economic development in a 10-county region that includes Logansport has been accorded a city honor.

Todd Miller has been named Citizen of the Week for his efforts to secure Lilly Endowment funding through the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network. Miller worked with officials from nine other counties surrounding and including Tippecanoe County.

“What Todd has done is go above and beyond to promote economic development not just for him, but our region,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “His work as an Indiana Chamber of Commerce volunteer and in promoting career days for fifth-grade students is part of his ongoing commitment to promoting a more vibrant quality of life for our city and county.”

The mayor described the initiative as “ambitious” and added that its goal of making this region the Silicon Valley of the Midwest could set the area apart for generations in economic development if its goals are achieved.

Miller, a third-generation president of Myers Spring, is a graduate of Caston High School and Purdue University. He and his wife, Gretchen, have been actively involved in historic preservation of local properties, including the People’s Winery and Bankers Row on Eel River Avenue. They have two daughters.

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
