A Logansport woman once recognized as the outstanding Indiana employee with her company is this week’s Logansport Citizen of the Week.

Judy Johansen was a lead cook responsible for serving an estimated 450,000 meals during her 12-year tenure at McKinney House on High Street. She was responsible for ordering and purchasing food for the nursing facility was recognized for her pursuit of excellence in 2001. She earned a trip to the company’s corporate office in Portland, Oregon.

“Judy is one of many great examples of the work ethic people who live and work in Logansport have, and in many cases, they remain loyal to their employers and focus on doing the kind of work others really appreciate,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said Thursday. “Sometimes great employees take great satisfaction from their job and supporting others, and Judy and many others deserve recognition for their performance and it’s something no one should take for granted.”

Judy and her husband, Keith, will celebrate their 52nd anniversary Tuesday. Originally from Plymouth, Iowa, Judy moved to Logansport with Keith 39 years ago when he became manager of a local company. The couple has three grown sons and five grandchildren. She is a former Sunday school and Bible school teacher and attended Ivy Tech.

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
