Galveston man killed in crash at US 24 and 600E in Cass County

Cass County – This morning, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 24 at County Road 600 East, in which a Galveston, IN, man died.

Preliminary investigation by Senior Trooper Ezariah Bricknell revealed that Joshua Kilgore, 24, Galveston, IN was driving a 2002 Dodge Neon northbound on County Road 600 East, approaching U.S. 24. Kilgore crossed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 24, but failed to yield at the median crossover. The Dodge pulled into the path of a westbound 2003 Peterbilt semi-tractor, pulling a livestock trailer. The Peterbilt was driven by Michaels Phillips, 49, Roann, IN. The semi-tractor struck the Dodge in the passenger side.

Kilgore was pronounced dead at the crash scene by Cass County Coroner Randy Rozzi. Phillips was not injured.

The load in the semi-trailer was not damaged during the crash.

Senior Trooper Bricknell was assisted at the crash scene by ISP Sergeant Rick Brown, ISP Sergeant Brian Dormer, Senior Trooper Todd Trottier, Trooper A.J. Coffee, Trooper Aaron Schaal, and the New Waverly Fire Department.
