Master Gardeners from throughout Indiana are invited to show off their landscaping skills at a special event benefiting the Logansport/Cass County Memorial Center.

The event is free, but the Mayor’s Office is sponsoring $100, $75 and $50 cash prizes for the winners, plus plaques on their plots recognizing their work and a certificate of appreciate from the city.

Mayor Dave Kitchell says Master Gardeners are people who go above and beyond to beautify many areas of Indiana and their talents often go underappreciated or taken for granted.

“These are people who actually pay to become specialists in highlighting how beautiful nature can be, especially this time of year,” Kitchell said. “They are people who have become very adept at beautifying their communities, and this is an opportunity for some of the very dedicated people in the Master Gardener program to showcase their talent.”

Master Gardeners can work alone, with their friends, family or co-workers, or with other Master Gardeners to beautify one spot at the center at 700 East Market Street in Logansport. The only qualifying factor is that the work must be started and completed from 9 a.m. until noon April 28 at the center.

Interested gardeners can submit their names to the Mayor’s Office by April 22 at dkitchell@cityoflogansport.org.
