The man who designed the first and only city flag for Logansport is this week’s recipient of a special city honor.

Fr. Kevin Haines is recognized for the design of the city flag which depicts the Wabash and Eel rivers, the railroads and native Americans.

“Kevin designed this in conjunction with the nation’s Bicentennial in 1976 and it has been a constant reminder of our heritage,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “After he was ordained, Kevin had the privilege and good fortune to work with Mother Teresa, who eventually went on to sainthood. Few clergy can lay claim to serving beside such a great role model for people in every country. I’m proud that he’s from Logansport, and that he was proud to be from Logansport.”

The Citizen of the Week is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and recognizes Logansport natives or residents who contribute to the community or are recognized for their achievements. Recipients received a certificate of appreciation from the city and a $20 gift certificate.
