INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Auditor Tera Klutz, who was appointed to the position in January 2017 by Governor Eric Holcomb, today filed her paperwork with the Indiana Republican Party to seek the party’s nomination to serve a full term as Indiana Auditor of State.

“As Indiana’s first CPA auditor, I go into the office each day driven by a passion to make sure Indiana remains a center of fiscal strength and responsible, transparent government,” said Klutz. “Whether that’s through finding efficiencies in technology funding, providing an extra set of eyes over our expenses or making our state spending more transparent, I’m working daily to provide Hoosiers with peace of mind that their tax dollars are being responsibly managed. I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve Hoosiers, and would be honored to become Indiana’s first elected CPA auditor.”

Kltuz, who is the first certified public accountant (CPA) to serve as state auditor, is working to make state government more open and accountable by creating Indiana’s first internal controls department and enhacing the state’s award-winning transparency portal. She is endorsed by Governor Holcomb and Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer.

Prior to serving as Indiana’s state auditor, Klutz served as the Allen County auditor, where she was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Indiana Auditor’s Association and was the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding County Auditor of the Year award. A Fort Wayne native, Klutz also previously worked as a CPA for one of the nation’s largest public accounting firms.

The Indiana auditor is one of Indiana’s seven statewide-elected positions in state government. As the state’s chief financial officer, the auditor is responsible for overseeing all of the state’s accounting and reporting functions, including tax distributions, paying the state’s bills, paying state employees and administering the state’s deferred compensation plan.

The nomination for auditor, along with the nomination for Indiana secretary of state and treasurer of state, will be decided at the 2018 Indiana Republican State Convention in Evansville on June 9. The nominated candidates will then be on the November ballot statewide.
