LEPC HOLDS PREPAREDNESS SEMINAR
Yesterday morning, the Cass County Local Emergency Planning Committee held its annual emergency preparedness simulation. 54 Representatives from police, fire, EMS, industry and health care were among those who worked through a discussion of how their agencies would respond in the event of an emergency incident.
MAYOR SHARES LIST OF HISTORIC STRUCTURES:
This week is Historic Preservation Week and in a press release issued yesterday, Logansport’s Mayor says a 2016 inventory of historic buildings in Logansport lists 43 local structures rated as “outstanding” nominees for the National Register of Historic Places. They include the Cass County Memorial Center, several downtown churches, Gundrum Funeral Home, a number of residences on East Broadway and several on East Market, High and North Streets. Another 18 are listed with notable or contributing status, and could also be nominated, according to the mayor. You can see the full list of 43 here.
ROAD WORK ON 300N NEAR HOOVER
Cass County Road 300N, near Hoover, will experience intermittent closures over the next week, starting Thursday, May 17. The closures will be between CR 725E and CR 925E for culvert replacements, starting at the east end of the segment and working westward. The Cass County Highway Department says local traffic will have access from either side of the point of closure.
SOLAR COMMITTEE MEETING TONIGHT
The Solar Committee will be holding a meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. on the third floor of the City Building in the Utility Service Board Room. The Solar Committee will hear a presentation by Eric Walsh on financing options for the solar field at Trelleborg. Additional items may be added for discussion as needed.
FREE FISHING DAY ON SATURDAY, MAY 19
Saturday, May 19, is the second of four Free Fishing Days in Indiana this year.
On these special days, Indiana residents can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp. Free Fishing Days are prime opportunities for families to learn to fish because adults do not need a fishing license on those days, and children ages 17 and younger do not need a license on any day.
A number of events will be held across the state. Information on Free Fishing Day events is at dnr.IN.gov/fishfree.
