THURSDAY, MAY 31: Five things to know and five upcoming events

Here are five things you  might want to know and five upcoming events for Thursday, May 31, 2018:

CCCF HOLDING TOWN HALL TONIGHT IN GALVESTON

The Cass County Community Foundation will hold a Town Hall Meeting at 5:30 tonight at the Cleo Metcalf Community Center in Galveston. The meeting is a time for residents to gather and share ideas with the foundation. CCCF is keeping the offer to add $25 for each adult person who attends to the Galveston Fund up to the remaining $2,125 allocated for Galveston.

To help celebrate their 25th anniversary, the Foundation has hosted a series of Town Hall Meetings to share information and gather feedback about community needs in areas outside the city of Logansport. The meetings were designed to provide time for local citizens to hear from the Foundation about their specific work and offer an opportunity for the communities to share ideas of projects and future needs. The meetings are free and open to the public.

All citizens in the area are encouraged to attend and discuss ideas on ways to improve the community.

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT BOARD MEETS TODAY

The Stormwater Management Board will meet today at 10 a.m. in the LMU Board Room on the 3rd floor of the Logansport City Building. The agenda includes an update on the Melbourne Avenue project.

FREE FISHING DAYS THIS WEEKEND

Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, are the last of four Free Fishing Days in Indiana this year.

On these special days, Indiana residents can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp.

Free Fishing Days are prime opportunities for families to learn to fish because adults do not need a fishing license on those days, and children ages 17 and younger do not need a license on any day. Free Fishing Weekend is also a great opportunity to take someone fishing who doesn’t already have a license.

DNR properties and other sites across the state will be hosting youth and family fishing events.

People interested in attending a Free Fishing Weekend event are encouraged to contact the host property in advance because some activities may require registration.

For more information on specific events and to find a printable list of all upcoming fishing events, see dnr.IN.gov/fishfree.
