CASS COUNTY ELECTION RESULTS:
6,260 people, or 28.84% of Cass County’s registered voters cast a ballot in Indiana’s 2018 primary election. The winners of contested county races included Ed Schroder for sheriff, Stephen Kitts II for Cass County Circuit Court Judge, Ryan Browning for 3rd district Cass County Commissioner and Dave Redweik for County Council District 1. New this year, the Indiana Secretary of State made statewide election results available in real-time on indianavoters.com.
All results are considered unofficial until 10 days after the election.

STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE IS SATURDAY, MAY 12
Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Carriers collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices and deliver them to local community food banks, pantries and shelters.
USPS HOLDING PASSPORT DAY ON SATURDAY, MAY 12
If your travel plans include visiting Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda anytime soon, then you will need a passport. Current regulations state in addition to presenting a valid passport book when returning to the United States by air, you’ll now need to present a U.S. passport at land borders and sea ports of entry to return home.
To make obtaining a new passport or renewing your old one an easy and convenient experience, 54 Post Offices, including Logansport’s, will host a Passport Day on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Current passport fees are $145 total for adults (16 years and older) with a separate payment of $35 to the Postal Service for its processing fee, and $110 paid to the Department of State for the passport application fee. For persons under 16, the total cost is $115, which includes a $35 processing fee to the Postal Service and $80 to the State Department. The Postal Service also offers a passport photo service at a cost of $15.

PETUNIAS ARE BACK IN DOWNTOWN LOGANSPORT
Cass-Pulaski Community Corrections delivered the signature pink petunias to downtown Logansport on Monday. The flowers are locally-grown in greenhouses funded by the Cass County Community Foundation. CCPC crews grow them, pot them, place them around the community, water them and maintain them throughout the summer.
For residents who want similar flowers, a local grocery on Logansport’s west side has made a special offer in years past. According to Logan’s Landing’s Facebook page, “Again this year, D&R Fruit & Meat Market will be generously donating $1 to Logan’s Landing for each hanging flower basket sold.”
MILLING WORK BEGINS NEXT WEEK
The Street Department will be milling the following areas on Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15:
Water Street from North Third Street heading west just past Holland Street
Ebert Street from North Third Street (Highway 17) to the golf course entrance
Humphrey Street from Main to Dewey Street
