Security Federal donates $250,000 to the Cass County Family YMCA

Community support continues to roll in for the Cass County Family YMCA. Today, the Y announced that they have accepted a generous $250,000 gift from Security Federal Savings Bank.  The money is being given toward the recently announced capital campaign that will fund a $3.5 million total renovation of their 51-year-old facility located at 905 E. Broadway in Logansport.

Annette Russell, President and CEO of Security Federal Savings Bank had this to say about the donation: “Security Federal Savings Bank is pleased to be a significant contributor to the YMCA Capital Campaign. As a community bank we recognize the importance of encouraging a healthy lifestyle for our employees, their families, our customers and our community. Wellness is embedded in the culture of Security Federal. By encouraging the use of facilities like the YMCA we have been able to reduce the burden of increasing health care costs. For over 25 years Security Federal has participated in the corporate sponsorship program, which enables us to keep the portion paid by employees at a minimum. We appreciate the thought and consideration the Campaign Committee and Board have put into repurposing the existing building for future use. Enhancing the look and feel of the facility will certainly make an impact on existing members, future members and visitors who work in our community but live elsewhere. The well-being of our community affects every family, business and government entity as well as our ability to strengthen the local economy. Security Federal is stepping up to the plate to help provide a safe place where people can go to have fun, learn, make new friends and embrace the services the YMCA has to offer.”

Dereck Parkevich, Executive Director of the Y, is deeply grateful for the gift. “I am extremely thankful to Annette Russell and the entire Security Federal Savings Bank’s Board of Directors for their very generous gift to our campaign. When we first met with Annette to discuss our project, you could definitely feel the passion and care in her voice that she has for her employees, their families, and our community. Because of her passion, Security Federal raised the bar of giving for others to follow. Security Federal has always taken great pride in their employees’ health and giving back to our community. This is evident in their long-time, continuous participation in the Y’s corporate membership program and every year being the major sponsor for our annual Turkey Trot event. Our community is blessed to have such a community-minded bank like Security Federal and because of them; we are certainly ‘Better Together’.”
