Here are five things you might want to know for Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018:
PAVING IN FRONT OF LOGANSPORT MEMORIAL: If you’re headed to Logansport Memorial Hospital today or tomorrow, you should be aware that milling and paving work will be taking place on Fulton Street between Michigan Ave. and Clifton Avenue. Milling will begin around 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. Paving will begin in the morning on Friday, Aug. 24 and is expected to last half of the day. Those who can are asked to use alternate routes. For emergencies, there will be flaggers to assist with entrance to the emergency department.
IVY TECH HOSTING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: Ivy Tech Community College is marking its 50th anniversary in the Kokomo area this year and the public is invited to join in a campus/community celebration Thursday, Aug. 23. A big tent will be up, the balloons will be filled, and the noisemakers will be ready to salute both the anniversary and the “new” Kokomo campus growing on the grounds at 1815 E. Morgan St. The party is scheduled for 4:30 to 6 p.m. with short remarks to begin at 5 p.m. Read more here.

STORMWATER BOARD TO MEET: LMU’s stormwater management board meets at 10 a.m. today. Items on the agenda include the cost of service study update, the bid award for the Melbourne Avenue wet weather project and the 2019 budget.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR AUDITIONS: Hard to believe but the Logansport Children’s Choir is beginning its 31st season! Auditions will continue today and tomorrow in the Logansport HS Choir Room. If you have a child who’d like to join, you can find more info here.
