Here are five things you might want to know for Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018:

HUSTON PARK TRAIL CLOSED FOR RE-SEALING
Sections of Huston Trail, 1721 Smith Street, will be closed for re-sealing (weather permitting) through August 1, 2018.

BACK TO SCHOOL
School starts this week for some Cass County students. The first day of school for students at Lewis Cass is Friday, Aug. 3. Find the start dates for other schools here.

LOGANSPORT SAVINGS MAKES YMCA CONTRIBUTION
The Cass County Family YMCA says Logansport Savings Bank has made a $200,000 gift toward the recently announced capital campaign that will fund a $3.5 million total renovation of the Y’s 51-year-old facility located at 905 E. Broadway in Logansport. The Y announced the capital campaign earlier this month.

DOWNTOWN EVENTS SET FOR FRIDAY
A Logansport man will be biking from Logansport to Santa Barbara, California to raise money and awareness for Main Street Organizations, like Logan’s Landing. Aaron Anderson, son of Dr. Ralph Anderson, will depart Friday from the Depot at 4th and Melbourne. Miles for Main Street pledges can be made on the Logan’s Landing website. A Miles for Main Street sendoff is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday and will be followed by a Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. for the new art installation at Heritage Park.

STATE FAIR BEGINS THIS WEEK

The Indiana State Fair gets underway Aug. 3 and runs through Aug. 19. Read more here.
