Mayor says Logan Square apartments are being leased

LOGANSPORT – An Indianapolis developer is asking local residents interested in living downtown in market rate housing to contact him for availability.

John Dugan is leasing space at Logan Square at Third Street and East Broadway. The building, which once housed the Captain Logan Hotel and the Logan Theater, was sold last year. It received city tax incentives for improving the building to convert it to market rate housing, which has been identified as a critical need in the city. The first floor will be maintained for commercial and office space.

“We’re glad work on Logan Square has progressed to this point,” Mayor Dave Kitchell said today. “One of the goals of our administration was to redevelop this property, and one of the glaring voids in our community is the lack of affordable, market rate housing.”

The mayor said Dugan’s involvement is a cautionary sign that more developers from outside the county will identify potential development opportunities in the city.

Dugan may be reached at (317) 650-1505, or at jcdrealty@att.net.
